Step 1 to writing better article content is Research. Unless you're a useless book of trivia, you most likely don't know everything about every subject on the Internet. Well, don't worry about it. You don't have to be an authority on everything you write. For that matter, you don't have to be an authority on anything you write. The key here is that you're just going to write enough for your reader to be interested in finding out more. Remember, you don't want your article to give away too much information.

Ok, so how do we go about doing this research? Where do we start and where do we end? It's actually a very simple step by step process that if you follow to the letter each time, you'll have no problem getting all the information that you'll need for any article that you're about to write.

The first step is to go to your favorite search engine. Most people recommend Google. They're fine. But you can easily use AOL or Yahoo or any of the other search engines. Just about any of them is going to give you what you're looking for, especially if it's a topic that isn't too obscure.

The second step is to go to the search engine search box and type in the keyword that you're looking up. Let's say you're writing an article on video games. Type in video games in the box and see what you come up with. Because this is such a broad topic, you are more than likely going to get a ton of results. No problem. Just pick one of the top ones. Most likely it will be an article on the topic. If it's not, and instead it's a web site that sells video games and there is no content to read, then just close up that site and go to the next one in the list, not that you can't get ideas from a sales site. It's just not as easy.

There will probably be about 4 or 5 of them if it is a well written article. In writing down the 4 or 5 main points, you are essentially writing 4 or 5 sentences that you are now going to expand upon when writing your own article. That's how it becomes YOUR article. Yes, there are going to be certain facts that you will have to include, but the bulk of your article will be "descriptive flavor text" as I like to call it. This text will be interesting, relevant and keyword rich.
