The Coming Storm: New Executive Pay Disclosure Rules Will Have Big Impact on Corporate Life
Some of you companies out there have about a year before all hell breaks loose. That's when the Securities and Exchange Commission's proposed executive compensation disclosure rules are expected to take effect. The new rules will require every public company to explain in a single, plain-English report the actual value of what they give their CEO, CFO, highest-paid executives and directors.Disclosures resulting from the new rules will add fuel to rising public ire over the idea that top execs are paid a hundred times or more than the average worker -- and that many of these packages go to people who failed to build busin

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they

Career planning is an excellent way to prepare for what the world ahead has to offer you. While many people find that career planning is something that is done in college, it can be and should be done throughout life as a way of making sure that you are on the right track. There are many opportunities to get the planning that you need. In fact, it can start a long time before college as well. You’ll find that career planning can and does h
    I didn't desire death,
    But death desired me.
He came to pick me up at two,
    We left at two-o-three.

No time to pray to God,
    No time to say, goodbye,
No time to say, I’m sorry,
    No time to await reply.

The life I knew on earth now past,
My corpse the grave does sheathe.
To those still living up above
    This wisdom I bequeath:

Think often of your soul's state
In the days you've abiding yet.
    For death is certainly imminent
And its time can't be reset.

“Since men have not succeeded in curing death, they have decided not to think about it all,” remarks Pascal ironically.

We all know that death is a part of the mystery of life. American culture has difficulty acknowledging this truth. For the most part, we are unwilling to consider the subject preferring to evade thinking about the possibility of our non-existence in this world, as we know it. But whether we accept it or not, we will all receive the summons to death.

We rejoice when someone survives cancer or other diseases that ravishes the body and threatens the termination of life. Yet, death is still waiting for man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. There is no escaping crossing the river Jordan.

We must also come to terms with the fact that we have no control or power over the way in which we will die or how long we will be in the dying process or the place where we will breathe our last breath. We know not the day or the hour when the death bell will ring for us. We know that we are not even secure in our homes for any spot on the face of the earth can be a straight path to the cemetery. Wherever we stand or sit, there is an entrance into eternity.

Ten thousand to their endless home this solemn moment fly, And we are to the margin come, and we expect to die. John Wesley

We may choose to fight the inevitable as vividly expressed in Dylan Thomas’ poem:

430,000 people in the United States make all or some of their living on eBay. World Wide Events
Fifty years ago, the thought of watching a former head of state being hanged, would have been unimaginable. This revolution has been brought about the advances in technology, such as television, the ordinary telephone and the Internet. With the strides made in technology such as You Tube, which allows people to share video clips on the Internet and formats such as MP3, through which music can be shared, the exchange of information is now faster than ever before.Scholars have succumbed to the temptation of describing the world as a ‘global village’. With the progress of technology, the death of distance aided by the Internet an

Yet, death does not take “no” for an answer. Each moment of our lives, we live on the brink of our tombs.

Death is disturbing to us. Perhaps one of the most disconcerting aspects of death is that it seems to be both blind and deaf. It is blind in the sense that it fails to see if its victim is young or old, healthy or sick, productive or destructive. It is deaf in the sense that it does not hear our cries for just a little more time to live, to straighten out our affairs, to do all the tomorrow things our todays left undone.

I believe it is important to be acutely aware of our death. The Psalmist laments: “If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be.” Perhaps if we remember that we have to depart this world, we will be inspired to re-evaluate our life and our priorities. If we look at life by the light of death’s lantern, we might see more of the emptiness of worldly pursuits. If we look at life by the light of death’s lantern, we might come to appreciate our family and friends more; realize the value of kindness and forgiveness and love. If we look at life by the light of death’s lantern, we may see the true beauty in life and understand the deep things of humanity's soul.

Too many of us are preparing to live when it is time to die. This is what the Psalmist is trying to tell u
