Free Newspaper Advertising-How to Get Your Business On the Front Page
Everyone loves free advertising. In some ways it is the Holy Grail of business. But it has to be effective advertising seen by many people. One of my favorites is a newspaper article about your business. This is an elusive goal, and it can be difficult to achieve. Sometimes, it is just being in the right place at the right time. These techniques have even put me on the evening news. And best o

Why is a Franchisor Mad at the Multi Level Marketing Companies?
Why would a franchise company which has master franchisees in charge of regions and those regions in charge of the franchisees and the franchisees in charge of their stores and each store has a manager in charge of the employees? After all doesn’t that represent 5-levels of marketing? Isn’t franchising the duplication and replication of a business method and brand name? Why would Franchisors be angry at a Multi Level Company which basically in “abstract theory” anyway operates in such a similar way?Well, I am a franchisor so let me explain my beef with this particular s

Setting Up Appointments When You Need A Career Change
The key is to job hunt smarter not harder. There is no point spending all day applying to over 50 companies and get so frustrated at the end of the day because non of the employers have responded to your applications.Don't join the rat race. Many are called but few are chosen. Why join the many when you can be among the few chosen ones without joining the crowd.A bird at hand is better than 10,000 in the forest. You can always use that one bird to catch the many thousands in the forest because birds of the same feather flock together. The same applies to th

If You're Fired, Will Past Employers Keep Your Secret?
Despite what some job seekers think, it is not illegal for former employers to tell reference checkers that you were fired. They can say anything they want as long as it's true. But many companies do have policies that limit what they will reveal about past employees. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?I was watching an episode of CBS's "60 Minutes" recently (hmmm, maybe I watch too much TV; no wait, this is "research," so it's OK). They had a shocking story about a male hospital worker who is suspected of killing more than 40 patients in several different

I personally believe that the role of the manager has completely shifted and changed with the explosion of available knowledge. Anyone can access any information they need to do whatever they want. Sometimes this is a good thing and sometimes this is not so good.

If anyone can get any information to do what they need and want to do, do they even need a manager? I think they need a leader in the workplace. Not just any leader either. There are lots of models out there of what a leader is and hers/his characteristics. I believe, in the workplace there is only one thing a leader needs to do and that is create an atmosphere of inspi
