    Assessing Your Progress
I'm not a big fan of New Years resolutions. Sure I've made dozens of them, all with good intentions and a bit of magical thinking, believing this time the resolution will stick. Maybe a few have, but generally these wishful self-promises end up broken. And when that happens my self-esteem suffers. You see, every time you break a self-promise, your self-trust is weakened. Every time you give up on your commitments your self-confidence takes a hit. And every time you look back on broken resolutions, your self-assessment hurts, not helps, your performance future.By contrast, I am a huge fan of goals or dreams or aspirations or targeted focus. Call it what you like. Mine come in a variety of forms, anything from a life-to-do-list to aspirational dreams. But their achievement hinges on the same element - incremental action. I learned in twenty years of management the power behind small steps. One baby step, then another and another eventually leads to achievement. M

    Medium Done Well
You've determined that you are ready for an advertising program. The message is ready, the audience is selected. Now, which medium will deliver the best results?Well, a multi-media approach that surrounds your prospect is highly effective for rapidly building awareness. But you may not be able to afford a full-blown campaign like that. Let's examine the various media along with their pros and cons to give you a better sense of what may work for you.Out-of-home Advertising - this includes everything from billboards to transit signage and even posters. Provides the greatest reach for the dollar but you only get about eight words of copy and a photo. Good for targeting a geographically defined audience. Beyond that, I think billboards are best for directional messages. Another drawback: it is hard to pinpoint the effectiveness of out-of-home media.Newspapers - One of the best ways to reach people ready to buy now, and to convey complicated messages
Never underestimate how important personal responsibility can be in influencing our lives, and how much power it gives us to effect change. Remember this: we train and condition people to treat us the way we want to be treated.

Consider, for example, the use of sales and discounts. How often do you hold yourself true to your word when you offer someone a limited-time discount? It’s a time-honored tradition to offer a customer a discount on a sale when nearing month’s end—an incentive to buy now rather than later. It comes implicitly with a threat:

I can only offer you this discount if you buy before April 30th, after that, it’s back to full price.

Let’s be honest: if that customer calls back on May 5th demanding the discounted price, how likely are you to give it to them? This behavior is the kind that conditions customers—establishing a precedent that they’ll expect again and again—that

In a Business to Business Marketing Strategy, the 'Big Wait' is a Costly Mistake
The inability to pull the trigger on key marketing decisions is a curious problem. On one hand, a properly selected, well-conceived business to business marketing strategy is the key to a company's growth and expansion. For many companies that have been struggling, or are stalled, implementing a marketing solution that will generate leads and sales is Priority One. So, why is it that such a decision is often put off with some form of “we think we will wait?”Many business owners and execs have no sense of the tremendous liability of waiting to start a business to business marketing effort. By waiting, they're not confronting how the game is played. Business competition is like a race. When you're not moving forward, you're losing ground.Although clearly there can be a legitimate reason to delay a business-to-business marketing strategy, there are also reasons that sound reasonable, but which are thinly veiled excuses to put off decision making. Famous examples includ

The Importance Of Temperature Control For Your Business Stock
Does your company rely on controlling temperature to maintain its stock? Of course, most businesses are affected by the performance of heating, ventilation or air conditioning (HVAC) systems – one just has to think about working in a hot office during the summer weeks, and the effects on staff production. But, when stock is directly affected by temperature, such systems take on a wholly different importance.Monitoring becomes paramount; it can also be a mandatory requirement when it comes to handling chilled, frozen or hot foods. But, when there are a great number of different systems on the market (ranging from basic handheld models to complex set-ups), and there are monitoring services too, how do you choose a management package that fits your needs? Here are a few things you could be thinking about.Simple-to-use interfaces : Technology has come far enough for monitoring systems to be user-friendly. There’s no excuse for over-complex i

    Networking Dictionary
Answer mode:- A function that allows a modem to answer an incoming call, detects the protocol being used by the calling modem, and synchronizes with that protocol. On a Hayes-compatible modem, answer mode is controlled by the command ATS0=n, where n specifies the number of rings that the modem waits before answering.Anti-virus program:- A program that detects or eliminates a computer virus! Some anti-virus programs are terminate- and- stay resident (TSR) programs that can detect suspicious activity on your computer as it happens; others must be run periodically as part of your normal housekeeping activities. An anti-virus program locates and identifies a virus by looking for characteristic patterns or suspicious activity in the system, such as unexpected disk access or .EXE files changing in some unusual way. It recognizes the virus by comparing information from the system against a database of known viruses, which is kept on

This behavior is the kind that conditions customers—establishing a precedent that they’ll expect again and again—that your limited-time offers are anything but limited and that a lower price is something they can demand all the time.

In our society, another way that we can inadvertently train others is when we don’t appear to respond at all to undesirable behavior—when we’re silent. For example:

A banker—let’s call him John—was having staff problems at his branch. When his employees did something that he didn’t like, John wouldn’t say anything, hoping that his silence would make a point. Instead, it had the opposite effect—employees kept repeating the undesirable behavior.

Likewise, if a customer yells at us and we don’t say anything, we’ve just rewarded this person’s behavior—signaling that it’s okay to treat us that way.
