How About This Business Management Approach?
Business management, when will you ever listen? Your business management approach should be so different. I mean, really, they seem to already have their answer to any question or proposition you may present. This really is a reason nature gave us 2 ears and only one mouth: To Listen More. So, hey, boss man, just listen to us and we may be able to achieve for the company what you are responsible for. For starters, do we really need all of these people around here? Have you ever done any sort of time study on their jobs? I did one at a manufacturing plant the other day, and within 1 hour of measurements, saw we could eliminate 3 positions in the plant. This is a savings of $250,000 a year, all in just 1
I look forward to a late afternoon workout, especially after sitting all-day and working on my computer. I tend to become myopic and need to spread out beyond the mirror to my left and the wall behind me. The smell of the damp leaves, the passing headlights of the cars as I attempt to cross the road, and the kindness of the post office worker all allows me to reconnect to the world. And as I focus on the leaves that have fallen on the trail in front of me, my mind begins to go into a semi-trance. Little by little, I think about the step ahead, one after another. This active mediation is when I get some of my best ideas. When I am not trying too hard. Creativity is like that. It needs the space to emerge.

As a speaker, I have wanted to come up with my own system. This is a way for speakers to become different, to go beyond the 'he's just another creativity speaker.' I have learned that when a speaker has a system, many more things are possible for my clients such as, gaining a fresh perspective, generating new ideas, sharpening the focus and creating more business. Sometime at the beginning of the year I stopped trying for my system. While I put the goal of developing a system into the 'Long Term Aspiration' section in my journal, I stopped trying to force a solution. It wasn't until late this summer that it happened, some 9 months later. Basics of Plastic Film Process
The process of producing plastic film by extruding molten resin into continuous tube is extremely simple. The elements of the process include plastic pellets (resin) which feed through the hopper into an opening on the back of an extruder. Here, heat and friction from the screw and barrel inside of the extruder convert the pellets to a melt which are forced through an annular, or ring-shaped, die to form a tube. The tube is inflated to increase its diameter and decrease the film gauge, and at the same time is drawn away from the die, also to decrease its gauge. The bubble is flattened by collapsing frames, drawn through nip rolls, over idler rolls to a winder which produces the finished rolls of film.orker all allows me to reconnect to the world. Building Community Support for Project Permitting, Construction, and Marketing
Redevelopment is replacing new construction throughout the Greater Boston area, as construction costs climb and the commercial/retail vacancy rate reaches new (and alarming) levels.Redevelopment of highly visible, publicly owned or historic properties~ such as shipyards, air bases, and historic mills ~ involves all the usual steps of Federal and State permitting and approvals, and the additional layer of permitting involving historic, archeological and cultural review and approvals. At every one of these steps, community or political opposition can bog a project down, and that means lost time, lost revenues, and significant expenses while people and equipment sit idle, as

    Maryland Lawyers; Linear thinking politicians
A Maryland State Legislator proposed a bill last year to further regulate franchises in their state. As we allow states to dream up more laws we become the United Countries. Luckily the Maryland Lawyer did not get her bill past, but she might have? It is sickening to see folks make laws who have never had to earn a real living or make a payroll. They are stifling our country. Franchising does not need any more laws and Maryland does not need anymore lawyers. Here is an excerpt of a letter admonishing the lawmaker, who introduced the bill for increased franchise regulations:“The US system of government is set up like a franchise system and follows the same principles as the franchising model. I hope you

It felt good to get my body moving and my mind out of a dark conference room with heavy drapes and only a wisp of outside light. Earlier in the day, I had put in my journal that I wanted to figure out how to increase the communication power of my customer.

According to one of my favorite books, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, he states, "The subconscious mind takes any orders given it in a spirit of absolute faith, and acts upon those orders, although the orders often have to be repeated over and over again. ... Be on alert for these plans, and when they appear, but them into action immediately." I had put the desire for a system into my journal and was jogging past an art gallery that had displays of photography when it hit me. The photographs that are simple are the most powerful. When a photographer focuses your attention on the simple shapes of the triangle, square and circle, you have less to distract your eye. The result is that you can more easily 'get it' or get the powerful message that the photographer is trying to convey. One of the most widely viewed photographs of the 20 th Century is Steve McCurry's 1985 cover photograph for National Geographic Magazine. It is of a young Afghan girl with green eyes whose name is Sharbat Gula. You can read more about the fascinating story of how Steve rediscovered woman 17 years later at http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/afghangirl/ .

Sharbat's plain green background on the 1985 cover and her tattered red headscarf suggests movement in a
