By getting active in these business organizations you can use relationship marketing to its full potential. The most common business organization we think of joining is the Chamber of Commerce. There are a number of other organizations out there

Small Business - Franchising and the Economic Reality of Regulation
Have you ever considered how smaller businesses and even franchisees who own franchised outlets are hurt in economic downturns? Have you ever considered the ebb and flow of regulations and how they try to control it? We all know that the government does nothing very well and yet we allow them to try to reign in the cattle and corral the raging rapids of our economy. Why?One thing I find interesting is that when the
On a mailing list hosted by a professional association I'm a member of, one poster stirred up a controversy in a hurry by writing about a client who wasn't being cooperative.

Some listmates suggested that it's the role of the solo pro to bend over backwards in any way possible in order to please her client.

Others said no way to any overtures that had to do with giving the client what he wanted.

I say find a happy medium.

You must develop terms of service for your business, whether you write them down in an official form or simply keep a running tally of them in your head, and let clients know when they've crossed the line.

(As a business owner, you have just as much a right as any other to set appointments to suit your schedule; when's the last time you got in immediately at the doctor's office unless it was an emergency?)

Avoid These Seven Deadly Dangers Of Outsourcing
Here are seven dangers of outsourcing your software development. They become deadly if your career or entire company depends on the timely release of your software.Danger #1- Ignoring Outsourcing It may seem safer to ignore outsourcing and stick with what has worked well in the past -- hire employee programmers and work with them directly to get your software developed. Direct Mail and Direct Mail Marketing for Tax Preparation Services
Low cost tax preparations services make their money on high volume business, but to achieve these high volumes they need two things; one, they need new clients and two, they need those clients to tell friends to generate some first class word-of-mouth advertising. Two Important Branding Musts
When branding a product or your business it is important that you give your consumers what you have promised them from the beginning. Two branding musts that will ensure success are: one, make a promise for life and two, be consistent in your market. Learn how one company made giant waves in the consumer spending pool. If you haven't branded your business, you're probably thinking it's impossible to be allowed to be so choosy.

But it's not impossible to be able to call the shots about your business life as long as you're reasonable about what you expect. That means that if you're a night owl and want to be reachable only in the evenings, make sure you cater to a clientele that can accommodate that. If not, you're out of luck.

But let's say that your clients all book 1-hour appointments. Rather than working 1 hour here and another there, set up 3 bookings in a row on Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays, for example, and create blocks of time in which you can do the other work that you need to get done, like bookkeeping (yuck!), marketing or any ongoing projects you might have. I personally can't get rolling on big projects in an hour here and an hour there, so I schedule project time into my work weeks.

As long as you're reasonable about when your appointments are set during the week, with the right branding you'll find that clients are thrilled you're able to accommodate them at all because you're so in demand!
