Winning the Bid Doesn't Mean You Must be the Lowest Bidder
Winning the bid for a cleaning contract doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be the lowest bidder. The entire bidding and estimating process has an enormous impact on the success of your bid, and should be considered an overall effort, and not just an aim to beat the price of any competing business. The trick is to communicate well with the facility operator in order to create a set of standard expectations and definitions for the job itself. That way, the bid you make will cater precisely to what your prospective client wants and expects, and wi

Business Intelligence System Is Inevitable For Your Business
Business intelligence is the talk of the town in the business world today. Unfortunately, not all businesses have adopted this unique system of making enterprise data active. Until now, its potential has been exploited only by a few powerful users who are into real enterprise application. How Useful Is Business Intelligence? Business intelligence system is a boon for the managers. They install this system to lead their business to a higher level. Many business owners are daunted by the task of writing a business plan. There is a process that you can use to make life easier by providing a structure that ties it all together. This process is Six Sigma, a well renowned methodology used by many organisations worldwide as a business process improvement system. The great news is that it is also extremely useful in helping to construct a business plan. This method works equally as well for businesses of all sizes but is particularly helpful to owners of small businesses who have to wear many hats. This is because it puts in one place each of the various activities and shows how they interact to achieve business goals.

The DMAIC model (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) can be applied to all businesses. Let’s consider how these steps can be applied to the business planning process.

Define. During this phase it is necessary to consider VOC (Voice of Customer). In this instance the customer is not necessarily the people to whom you sell products and services. In this process you are the major customer. If you are the business owner then the business plan is to serve you. What is it that you want to achieve with the business in the year(s) ahead. Of course it will be necessary to also consider the needs of other customers such as other shareholders, partners and government since they can have an interest in your business.

Measure. In this phase, for business planning purposes, the best place to start would be your last set of accounts and last year’s budget. Here we have a baseline. Typically, we look at last year’s profit result both in dollar terms and gross margin and from that we are able to determine the target that is to be achieved.

Analyze. At this point it is necessary to start to breakdown the process into more discrete activities since the overall business objective is to be achieved through a variety of different actions. Of course this, what these activities are will depend on what your business actually does but there are some common ones that will help explain the process.

Perfect Wealth Formula - Good or Bad? Will It Create You Perfect Wealth?
Perfect Wealth Formula, the latest business on the block. Is this the program to flock to or is it just another program promising false hope? I myself have worked online now for about 2 years, throughout that time I have tried, failed and succeeded at many online business programs. It was only some months back that I got into the whole 2 up business model and began generating sales, although painfully passing sales to my sponsor to get 'qualified' I was quite happy. The industry for sure needed something new, no one likes giving up money so what next? Roll out

    CPA Jobs
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a qualified professional accountant certified by the state. To become a certified public accountant, a person must have at least 150-hours of intense college education in various business, finance and accounting subjects, as well as pass a 14-hour CPA examination dealing with the topics of auditing, accounting, business management, and business laws & regulations (including tax). Because of their extensive education and credentials, CPAs are best-suited for corporate accounting, tax audits, as well as small business consul

Don't Buy In A Bad Mood!
Today, I made a special trip to an art supply store, one at which I have a “membership,” enabling me to get 10% off its prices, everyday. After wading through a sea of traffic, I found a parking space, entered the store, and quickly picked up two canvasses.I asked the clerk, “Are these on sale?”“Yes,” she replied.“ You can get up to 70% off, depending on how many you buy.”Cool, “How much do you save with two?”“Fifty-percent.”Not bad, I thought, and I systematically went down the store’s aisles in search of yet more barga

Build Deep Rapport by Delayed Matching
In general your going to allow a delay between your movement and theirs. A terrific delay time is 3 seconds. Think about it. Someone reaches up to their mouth and you just reach up to your mouth about 3 seconds later. Then they put their hand back behind their head a little bit, and you put your hand behind your head a little bit later.I'm just going along with him as he moves. As he moves I move - only later. And I'm not following him exactly, but I'm following him every time. So there is consistency to what I'm doing. Here's the key - You can a

Say you that your objective is to deliver an EBIT profit of $1mil with gross margin of 15%. In order to achieve this it is going to be necessary to map out the activities that can support this. A great tool for doing this is a fishbone diagram. It’s a simple graphical tool that will provide a structure for you to consider the interrelationship of the various aspects of your business. This chart will then allow you to methodically review the different aspects and analyze the information to determine what to improve. You may have to use some other analysis techniques to help you delve deeper into certain aspects but the fishbone diagram should be the main place of reference to keep the analysis plan on track.

Most effort goes into this stage since it is where you begin to look at your business critically to examine areas for improvement by analyzing different aspects in detail.

Improve. After carrying out some analysis it is then necessary to put in some actions to improve. For example you may have decided that you need to improve your sales revenue by conducting a marketing campaign. The improve stage is where you determine how you are going to do this. These activities become smaller improvement activities but as you can see they are all tied back to the fishbone diagram and this in turn is supporting your overall objective. Having this reference document helps keep you focused. In our example we would then begin to detail exactly how the direct marketing campaign would be structured. Identify the targets, the message and the vehicle and timing. That is who, what, how and when.

Control. This step is about monitoring and is where you would list the activities that you will undertake to ensure that you are tracking your progress and taking the necessary corrective action if things are going off course. Normally this involves some form of monthly reporting of factors such as sales, lead/prospects conversion, production, service delivery or cost reporting. The key factor is to have a review mechanism that works for you!

In conclusion it is apparent that the Six Sigma methodology can be applied to the business planning process to help to make what, at times, appears to be a daunting mountain into a number of smaller hills that can be easily overcome.
