Resume Success Factors--What Exactly Is A Resume Anyway?
You know you're good...real good. The problem, though, is that you are struggling to demonstrate just how good you are on paper.Ah...the resume. If you've ever written one you know what a challenging task it can be.The Gregg Reference Manual tells us some fundamental facts about resumes:The purpose of your resume is to get you an employment meeting. An interview. Your resume will not get you a job.Your resume is not a medium for telling prospective employers about your long-term goals and aspirations. It is where you appeal to their hiring motivations by dem

If the Shoe Fits - The Soul of Customer Service
My Aunt Virginia worked selling shoes in a downtown department store. I remember listening to adult conversation, while I played. She talked about other clerks not caring for anything other than the sale and the resulting commission.Aunt Virginia’s main concern was always the fit. She even took extra care and effort with children, allowing for proper fit as well as allowing a little room to grow. It’s the concern that I remember most.Aunt Virginia is probably the reason why I fell in love with a classic training video, The Face in the Mirror. The star of the 1947 classic training fil
E-learning gives you the opportunity to deliver and measure whether or not, you are achieving your goals. But the term E-learning has a certain internet geeky stigma attached to it. It sounds complicated and technical. But the truth of the matter is it's neither. Take the E out of E-learning and everyone becomes more comfortable.

I was listening to an online Search Engine seminar the other day, during which, the host was explaining how if he had to tell one more newbie what page rank was he would consider putting a gun to his own head. Amusing as the remark was, you could easily identify with the frustration of him having to repeat the same old message. All educators and that includes business owners and managers have the same problem.

What Are Most PowerPoint Slides Good For?
Believe it or not, the answer is not NOTHING! Even though that is what most people who know me would expect me to say.I actually think that there is a role for the typical text-filled, bullet point laden PowerPoint slide, only it isn’t to be used on the PowerPoint projection screen. I love PowerPoint, including builds (that’s when you slide one new line of text on top of an existing page) on my computer, whether it is on a web site or as a separate document. Why is it OK in one place but not the other? Because I like to read on my computer (and no one really likes to read a big screen from 3

    Workers With Families
Well there you are sitting at your desk hard at work, you have arrived early, and know that to complete everything that is expected of you, you will almost certainly have to work late, So how do you feel when a colleague with children (you don’t have any) phones in sick at the last minute because their child is ill or the school is closed or when they come in ask you to cover them as they have to leave early for a child related reason?I expect most of us wouldn’t mind too much if this was a one-off or a real emergency, beyond the colleague's control. But what if it happened more regularly how wo

Consulting Firms-When and How To Hire
I’ve got a consultant on retainer but he only comes in so often and if I need more than what we’ve agreed to it always costs more than I can budget. How often I have heard this statement. It goes back to the question we should have asked in the first place- “ What services does my company need and can an individual consultant fill those needs or is there an organization out there that can multi-task ?”Many companies have to make their managerial staff and/or administrative people take on multiple roles in order to be able to cover everything required of them. Especially in the industries where

    Summer Job Hunting 101
Sooner than later, the lines at your local fast food joints will be filled with more summer job seekers than hungry customers. Mallrats will be replaced by well-mannered students with r?sum?s in hand. And your parents will begin a steady, annoying cadence that will only end when you’ve got a place to finally stamp your timecard:“Have you’ve found a job yet… Have you’ve found a job yet? Have you’ve found a job yet?!?!”Well, have you?Sure, you can choose to diss the job search all together, and spend the summer bored, broke and having to do mom and dad’s laundry every

There are only so many things you have to do to achieve a successful outcome in any business task. By documenting those tasks just once means that the procedure can be repeated to all members of staff over and over again. Ray Kroc took the procedures for the MacDonald brother’s restaurant and duplicated it globally so that every member of staff within the restaurant was aware of their procedures and responsibilities no matter what their position or where they were in the world.

If Ray Kroc had access to the internet and E-learning when he was building the MacDonald's Empire he could have achieved his targets and educated the workforce more rapidly.
