The two main and widely used methods for this are seminar marketing and white paper publishing.Seminar Marketing:The best method for obtaining new business for small IT firms is seminar marketing. Seminar marketing really works because it raises awareness among prospects. This is a far better way of getting new business for small IT firms then soliciting or cold calling. They have to spend hours on saying the basic things to the potential customers. On the contrary, this objective can be achieved more effectively by seminar marketing where you can deal simultaneously with many prospects sitting in one room.Furthermore, customers also feel more comfortable when small IT firms use seminar marketing for getting new business because it is not targeted to any one individual. The amount of business you can get by using seminar marketing can be beyond your all expectations. I have read virtually everything you have written. I have listened in on more than one of your teleconferences.Correct me if I am wrong, but there is nothing more powerful in a business-to-business sales letter than a credible testimonial from a person in your prospect’s peer group.Testimonials are valuable because they say what you cannot. If you say it, you’re boasting. If a satisfied client says it, they are applauding. Here are some tips on using testimonials to make your sales letter pitches more plausible--and profitable.1. Don’t write your own I have a standing policy never to write testimonials for others to sign. I don’t put words in a client’s mouth. That’s because real testimonials have an authentic sound to them that you cannot reproduce with your own pen. The only change I make to testimonials is to correct typos and grammatical mistakes that would otherwise embarrass the person making the testimonial.2. Attribute the testimonials fully There may actually be a J. K. in Wyoming but I do not know him, and neither do your prospects. Your testimonials carry the most credibility when they are attributed to a person by name, and include that person’s job title and company. Prospects check up on us direct mail marketers, you know. I recently landed a contract with a client who, before retaining my services, visited my online testimonials page, clicked on one of the company links, and asked to speak to the person who had given I have clicked and spent and clicked and spent and clicked and spent. I filled the laundry basket and sold on eBay. I became a Clickbank affiliate (I think I am an affiliate of almost the entire Internet). I know that it's ironic that I want to make money on the Internet considering I have not one drop of technical skill in my body, but I am a single mom: bottom line is my kids NEED me... and I really and truly am relentless when it comes to getting what I want (in other words, what I lack in technical skills I make up for in persistence.) Please, please, please...just give me one word or sign or anything...that this CAN be done by the little people (such as myself). This Internet thing is kicking my butt and from what I have studied, you are the "Dr. Phil" of the ecommerce wannabe's, successes and everything in between. You Eat An Elephant One Bite At a Time.If you have 50 things to do you cannot do them all at once. Your salespeople are the same. If they have 25 previous customers to contact it is more effective to contact 5 per day rather than 25 in a week. Why? Simple; human nature. If you assign them the task of 25 contacts in a week they will wait and try to contact them all the last day or two. In an effort to rush, the quality of the contact will be poor at best. Follow-up will be improved if you do it in small increments. And they will not become frustrated by thinking they have to make “all those contacts.” 2. If you want to implement a new procedure.Lay out a plan of action and put it in writing. Perhaps your goal is to conduct a series of training sessions. Know what you will teach on what day and stick to your time schedule. Keep in mind that sales training is not the exercise of a dormant ability. Learn to train. Find articles about teaching and how to present information. If you are installing a new follow up system, implementing a change in company procedure or any other item that requires skills training do the same. Break it up into components. Teach it one piece at a time. 3. The assumption these salespeople often erroneously make is that it is necessary to promise the world in order to close the sale. It is far better to leave the prospect with realistic, even low expectations that you can exceed, than setting unrealistically high expectations that may never happen. A key concept to keep in mind while selling is - that the close of the sale is not the end of the sales process, but the beginning of the sales relationship. If a sales relationship is based on consistent customer disappointments you are setting yourself up for an unhappy customer and very little customer loyalty at best and a cancelled order at worst. The purpose of the sales process is to discover how you can help a customer or prospect with a need, problem, desire or challenge, and then position your product or service in such a way that the customer discovers in his or her mind the value necessary in order to justify a purchase. Remember you set the price but the customer determines the value of your proposition. Once the sale has been closed and the prospect accepts your promises, commitments or features as ones that will benefit them, he or she now moves into a sort of limbo mode. If I’m not continually challenging myself with developing new products, new services, new marketing techniques, and new speaking engagements, I get bored. I have a menu of products and services and I continually add to it, based on what my clients and prospects have told me they want and will buy.9. I make the most of my newsletter, which has about 2200 subscribers and grows daily.I give my subscribers valuable information, whether or not they choose to take advantage of my pay services. But I also don’t hesitate to make them aware of what I have to offer. If they buy, great. If they don’t, I don’t take it personally. At least I know I am putting out some good into the world and reaching a ton of people.8. (repeat as necessary :o). First, let me say that I understand your frustration, but it has been my experience that most people in your situation (including yours truly when I was first starting out) create much of their own frustration because they put themselves under too much pressure to succeed quickly. Their situation is not a happy one and they want to change it TODAY. When that doesn't happen, frustration and anger can set in. Everyone wants to hit home runs the first time at bat. They want big money and they want it fast. When results don't come as quickly as they think they should they say, "This Internet thing doesn't work and those who claim to make money are scammers!" I have been an Internet marketer for 3 years now. The first year I did miserably. I lost about $5,000 trying to figure it all out on my own. One day it occurred to me that succeeding would be much easier if I knew what the heck I was doing. You see, I, like so many others, didn't take the time to educate myself on Internet marketing. I saw others making money online and figured if they could do it, I could, too. I just found the crowded pool and dove in head first. As you expect, I almost drowned because I had not taken the time to learn how to swim. Heck, I couldn't even float..
