Answer Upon - Two Dads: One Computer-maniac, the Other Computer-phobic
Telling Isn't Training ure, genetic/environmental…For whatever strange reason, I have turned out to be a combination of the two papas. I work as a creative writer for an Internet web-hosting company. I love the ideas and valuable functions and tools that the Internet has brought to humanity (or was it humanity that brought it to the Internet?). Trainers and human resource development consultants sometimes do not recognize the “fuzzy line” that separates facilitation skills from presentation skills. For instance, we see a great deal of notice paid in our own “Interchange” to the presentation skills required of a competent trainer, but relatively little attention in the newsletter to what facilitation skills might be required of an adept trainer. In fact, I cannot remember the last issue where facilitation was discussed at all. Perhaps, then, there is an overemphasis on how to be an entertaining, dynamic, fun-loving, exciting presenter and trainer? If so, we need to remember that these skills are only a part of an effective trainer’s skill set.What Are Facilitation Skills?A useful distinction betw Brainstorming Do's and Don'ts I have two Dads. That sounds strange doesn’t it? One is my genetic father, and the other is my geneticist father. The genetic Dad I’ve only ever lived with for one year when I was an infant, while the geneticist Dad is what you would call a step-father, but I’ve lived in close proximity with him for more than 20 years. I feel close to them both. I connect differently with each of them but on a pretty much equal level. The reason I’m sharing my personal information with you is because I’ve just had a realisation about my fathers in relation to the area that I work in: computers and the Internet. It’s really quite interesting.We tend to put brainstorming in a box and assume that it is a no-holds barred, free form meeting with no structure or focus. But quite the opposite is the case. In fact there are lots of things that can derail a brainstorming meeting and put the meeting into a permanent tailspin.Perhaps the most important don't for brainstorming is don't be critical or judgmental of ideas presented during brainstorming. Successful brainstorming generates massive quantities of diverse and sometimes fantastical ideas. Fantastical ideas are good during brainstorming, not bad. You want a high quantity of ideas during brainstorming, not quality. There will be plenty of time later to dissect and analyze.Do make sure you have a clear purpose for the meeting and stick too it while brainstor One father is a computer maniac. It’s really quite interesting.When we are strapped for money and feel trapped by unemployment, lack of qualifications or skills, we can make the mistake of feeling that we have no useful resources and no opportunities available to us. This is the food of depression and hopelessness and is a big mistake. Negativity can fuel failure so it is very important to take a positive look at the resources that actually are available to you.One of the most common resources available to people that is often unrecognised is their motor vehicle. I can almost hear the sighs! Motor vehicles are more often than not a financial drain, not a resource that can create income. However, this does not have to be the case. After all, look around at the vehicles on the road. Vans, trucks, cars, and bikes are all zipping around our com One father is a computer maniac. You have looked at joining organizations to meet others, found places to network, and even attended special events. There does not seem to be a limit on what you need to do to gain meaningful business relationships. Even hobbies and interests can be used to develop business relationships if you are willing to go that far. I do not believe that you can change what you like to do just so you can gain more business. If you have a passion for something like golf, then you should stick to it. You will meet others that have that same passion. I like to play tennis and cycle. Even though most of the people I meet do neither, they will often say they also have a favorite sport they enjoy. However, I have issues and challenges when it comes to using these awe-inspiring machines.There are over 100,000 work related foot injuries in the United States every year. These types of injuries are all too common and in many cases are the result if improper footwear. Our feet take enough stress already just from normal daily activity it only makes sense that if we work in a hazardous job that we need to wear protective work boots or shoes.If you are in an industry such as construction or petrochemical plants where there are numerous hazards that can befall your feet it is even more crucial that you choose work boots with reinforced safety toes or steel toes. At home (I am currently living with my parents-Mother and geneticist, as I’m going to live overseas soon) all I have to do to get on the Internet is open up my laptop and I’m on-line. If I’m at work, I go to my PC and all of my settings are stored and ready for me to use. While in a new place, things haven’t been running as smoothly as I would’ve liked. The answers are probably simple and easy to do, but this is one of the kinds of challenges that cause me to stumble. Although I am deeply interested and have a true faith in this new technology, I am a real novice when it comes to getting things done on someone else’s computer. I brought my laptop with me. My girlfriend only has a dial-up connection which she uses with her laptop. I could use hers’ but she’s Chinese so a lot of what comes up on the screen is illegible to me. I don’t know how to change her language configuration. I’m used to doing it quite easily on my Mac, but her computer is a PC and I’m not as practiced in this other format. That’s one of my problems. I only have so much patience when it comes to working these technological issues out;
