en't you going to regret paying hundreds of dollars a press release to someone without even a marketing degree?

The best thing for small business is to do it yourself. Learn everything. It's all there for you on the net much like free references to yourself on the web.

As for press releases, say someone searches you as 'gypsy clothes', they will probably find you from the online classifieds. But at the same time, they have never heard of you before. In absense of a website, people find it very comforting to have a press release that also comes up to get to know you a ltitle.

Independent Professionals: What Paradigm Are You Weaving? Part 1
So we've heard the well-worn statistic that we're exposed to around 3000 advertising messages per day (personally I think it's A LOT more). Ever consider what each of these messages is really asking you to consider?I just opened up the web browser on one of my PC's. Straight away I'm faced with an ad from Virgin Credit Cards "Things get more exciting when you say yes!" presumably that means saying 'yes' to debt - in this case it's by clicking on the word 'yes' which opens a musical
I have spent a lot of time learning to use the net for my advantage. I started with a website at least. Many people don't. Still, I have been doing the marketing for several companies online, companies that don't even have a websites. In one case, she's been selling off the internet for over a year all over Canada and into the U.S.. Still, no website. How does that even make sense? Aren't we always taught that our basic minimum is a website?

Sure. That's true but if you look at the track record of certain products that still don't have a website, you'd be amazed. In the case of this client, I made her product a searchable topic. I just did this with another client the other day and she has a gig off of the ad.

Going back to my latest article about being specific when you advertise, I only advertised one product. So please, keep that in mind. If you are a juggler, magician, clown, selling a book, try to cut that down to something shorter so readers don't read a smorgasbord of options. The more specific you are, the more a general audience will come to you.

This is how I did it.

    Online classifieds:

I looked up free online classifieds. In particular, there is kijiji which you can access off the bottom of Ebay's screen. There's topix.net pretty much everywhere. So google free online classifieds and start posting. Be sure to include a phone number and a worthwhile product.

This process should take you about two hours, especially when you have to register for the site and go back to your email ect..

    Press Releases:

Once controlled by just a few company, the net has exploded with free press releases as the old guard of press releases have started charging real money for this service. Oh well, I vote for the free ones anytime.

For this product I mentioned earlier, I also posted several press releases, free of course. You can find these by googling 'free press releases'. You can put up the same one on each site. Some require registration as with the free online classifieds. To find all the useful ones and get registered, I'm estimating it will take about half a day and another half a day to draft a few press releases. By far, this will be the most time consuming part of your day but the advantage is that the press releases will have your story in it.

Remember though that press releases are not supposed to read like a conversation about your product but should be informative like a news story. Even though there are people that charge to do press releases, consider that not all of them should be paid. Once you get the knack for doing press releases, aren't you going to regret paying hundreds of dollars a press release to someone without even a marketing degree?

Launch A New Product With Promotional Gifts
One of the most effective ways to launch a new product is to package it with a promotional gift. The something-for-nothing factor is always a great lure to get people to try a new product, and it’s one that is being exploited in a big way by many major manufacturers. If you’re launching a new product, you don’t want to package it up with just any free gift, though. You need a plan to make sure that the promotional gifts you choose are the ones that will return the most boom for your invest

    Creating Brand Loyalty
Every business has a Brand whether they realize it or not. Having a brand is an unavoidable consequence of being in business. A positive Brand creates Brand Loyalty. If properly managed, Brand Loyalty is a powerful source of sustained profitability. However, very few business leaders understand how to sustain Brand Loyalty in their customers. They direct their attention to the "appearance" of the brand- the marketing and advertising aspects of brand identification. They strive for a unique

The Future Is Bright For Six Sigma
There are arguments raging over efficacy of Six Sigma in all aspects of business processes. Take, for example, the case of billing your customers. If the process is fundamentally defective, where Six Sigma fails to take a strategic and holistic approach without focusing on the flaws inherent in the system itself, Six Sigma’s outstanding abilities to unearth root causes of inefficiency can’t be questioned. It deploys analytical and statistical tools to expose flaws in the execution, albeit

The Better Business Bureau; Is it real?
Does the Better Business Bureau have too much power? What do you really think of the BBB? Have you questioned their sales tactics or questioned their validity? If so you are not alone. Home Depot ended up kissing up to the extortion tactics of the Better Business Bureau. Why bother, they are nuts those people.http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/stories/2002/08/12/daily4.html?f=et50As many of you know the BBB, which is the little darling of the FTC – Federal Trade Commission o

They're just left there for anyone to go in and chat, so long as you're not promoting your product in an upfront way. In that case, you will get kicked off or your ad will get removed.

Still, go into forums and leave messages for people with your name and product clearly displayed at the bottom. More searchable links. More references to you.

Google and several other search engines don't work like they used to. You used to have to practically spam them with keywords whereas now, their engine works as though its a set of human eyes. It's never been better for finding online classifieds, press releases and references to names.

    Good luck.
