How Switchplates Can Turn a Room from Dreary to Dazzling in Seconds There are no two people alike in the world, so no two people have the same taste. Why is it then that the majority of homes have plain, white switchplates?Switchplates have been around since the days of indoor electricity. They cover an open area in a wall where a light switch is in place, making the area look neat as a pin as it covers the exposed wires, all while assisting in a hazard free area. The originals were quite hideous, usually made of a boxy style wood block, not meant for any sort of decorative purpose at all, just for practical use. We’ve certainly come a long way, as the days of your grandmother’s tarnished, brass switchplates, with the preamble to the constitution engraved on the top seem like a past dream (or nightmare) . They can really be quite a beneficial art form, for everyone with electricity needs to have a switchplate for safety reasons, so why on earth would you want to have the same exact, boring one that everyone else has?Traditionally, decorative switchplates have been found in children’s bedrooms, nurseries, and the occasional bathroom. But why stop there? There aren’t many things more boring than a plain, drab wall. A solid, eggshell-colored wall with a plain white switchplate- I need to get an espresso just for thinking about it. You need a splash of color and some decorative art to give your home the character it needs- it should reflect the personality of its resident- it should reflect you. Why not combine the color and the art into a snazzy, un-boring switchplate cover?A bathroom full of frogs or a kitchen accented with wine bottles and grapes can both eas

Turn the page of any paper or turn on any news show and you’ll likely hear about the global energy crisis and soaring gas prices. But I’m convinced that the real energy crisis is not taking place in the oil fields of Texas and Iraq or the gas stations of New York and California but rather inside the people and the companies that contribute to our global economy. In a recent survey conducted by Harris Interactive Inc. less than 15 percent agree that they feel strongly energized by their work and only 20 percent feel very passionate about their jobs. While part of this crisis can be attributed to management (37% of Managers are indifferent to their company’s fate) a big part of the problem can be associated with worker burnout. 42% are coping with burnout while 33% believe they have reached a dead end in their jobs and 21% are eager to change their jobs. The cost of fatigue, burnout and a lack of engagement to corporate America is staggering. The Gallup organization estimates the cost to be 250-300 billon dollars while work place fatigue alone costs American businesses at least 77 billion per year according to the National Sleep Foundation. There’s no doubt that today’s employees as a whole are under engaged, overtired and overstressed. If you’re not convinced just try to ease drop on water cooler conversations. You won’t hear anything because they are not there. They’re hovering around the coffee pot or in line at the corner coffee shop. People are clearly searching for their energy but unfortunately they are finding it in coffee, diet sodas, energy drinks and other quick fixes that do not last. The fact is that enhan
“There’s nothing new under the sun” is probably the one phrase no inventor wants to hear, seldom believes, and is always trying to prove wrong.
However, moving too quickly to prototype stage and first disclosure can turn out to be costly for the inventor who doesn’t take the time to find out if his or her invention is already patented.
Yet, with over 3000 utility patents being issued each week in the United States, that can seem like a daunting if not downright impossible task.
So, what can the inventor do to get the information – and assurance – he needs to proceed with his work?
The first thing to do is conduct a preliminary search of patents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Public Patent Search Room, which contains U.S. patents arranged according to the U.S. Patent Classification System of over 460 classes and over 136,000 subclasses. The Patent Search Room, located in Arlington, Virginia, is open to the public from 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday to Friday, except on federal holidays.
If you don’t live near Arlington, you don’t need to make travel reservations. Instead, you can access the searchable database containing patent information for all U.S. patents granted since 1976 and all patent application publications (first published in March 2001), on the USPTO web site at http://www.uspto.gov/go/pats.
Inventors can also perform a preliminary search of patents at one of the Patent and Trademark Depository Libraries (PTDLs) established throughout the United States. These libraries have copies of patents in microfilm and/or optical disc format arranged in numerical order. They have classification search tools, automated search aids, and photocopy facilities available to the public. For information on your nearest PTDL, you may visit the PTDL web site at http://www.uspto.gov/go/ptdl.
Another option is to use specialized software like Patent Hunter™, a program which is designed to simplify the search process and to allow you to conduct a more complete search. For information about Patent Hunter, go to www.patenthunter.com.
You can also have a patent attorney or agent conduct a complete search for you. If you do not yet know a patent attorney or agent and would like to retain one, there are several ways to do so.
If you are a member of an inventors’ organization, networking with other inventors to learn which attorneys in your area get rave reviews can be one of the easiest and most effective ways to find good counsel. And, if you don’t find using the Yellow Pages appealing, you might also want to contact your state the law association for a list of attorneys practicing IP law. Finally, if you choose to conduct an internet search, you will want to check out the USPTO listing of registered patent attorneys aand agents by going to http://www.uspto.gov/do/oed,.
Whatever method you use to verify that your invention is unique and hasn’t been patented, acting early in the invention process can save you significant time and money. Or, if you discover someone already holds the patent, reviewing their design may inspire your creativity and lead you to add some “bells and whistles” that takes the idea to the “next level” and allows you to secure a patent on a superior product.

The research objective is to enable the marketers to understand better the parameters that effect the re-purchasing decision, and to evaluate whether the factor of level of involvement influence the results. The research population consisted of young men and women aged 18-25 who were considered as the target audience. The research examined the level of loyalty, product quality and involvement, in three product categories: Low level of involvement – Deodorant. Medium level of involvement - fashion clothes. High level of involvement - Cellular Phones. The research examined the relationship between brand equity and repurchase willingness. The research findings yielded, according to the Pearson correlation conducted between the consumer perception of the product equity and the consumer loyalty, a positive significant relationship on an intermediate-high level. In other words, the higher the consumer evaluates the brand equity, the greater his loyalty becomes. This relationship is weakened as the level of product involvement increases. Namely, as a product has higher perceived importance in the consumer’s opinion, he searches for additional added value beyond his brand perception. In addition, positive significant relationships were found between all the indices of the variable of brand equity and all the indices of the variable of customer loyalty. The level of relationships was intermediate high. The strongest positive relationship, relatively, is between real assets and repeat purchase, while the weakest relationship, relatively, was found between the non-real assets and recommendation to the friends.Additional f

Metal stamping is the process of cutting and shaping metal alloys into specific forms, especially to be used as components for large machinery or structures. Metal sheets can be molded into different pre-determined shapes for use as regular products like pans and cans. The most common alloys that are used in metal stamping are steel, zinc, nickel, aluminum and titanium. Metal stamping is a very cost-effective and productive way of producing many kinds of metal products on a large scale. In metal stamping, the metal sheets are placed in a die or a press tool that has a specially designed cavity that gives the preferred shape to the metal sheet. The upper part of the die connects to the press slide while the lower component connects to the press bed. A specific component known as the punch pushes the metal sheet through the die, thus performing the actual shaping operation. After pressing, the metal is plated with gold, palladium, nickel or tin to prevent corrosion.Plating also increases the wearability and solderable nature of the product. Sometimes, the sheet is also pre-plated before the stamping process, and then the product is cleaned to remove excess metal stamping oils and films. The product is then heat treated to make it stronger since it is still in the soft state after stamping. The product is then subjected to the deburring process for removing the sharp corners. This is done by using chemicals or abrasives. Metal stamping also involves other metalworking processes like piercing, blanking, forming and drawing on the same machines.Stamping presses have specific force, speed and precision for giving a

It can be easily shaped, formed, bent and/or easily cut to suit all applications. Sheet lead is extremely resistant to corrosion from the atmosphere, salt water, and most industrial chemicals. It is ideal for making corrosion resistant gaskets, lead lining tanks, reducing sound in rooms and replacing metal flashing in roofs. With its high density and flexibility it becomes superior in shielding rooms from radiation against x-rays and gamma radiation. For radiation shielding you should be looking for Sheet Lead with a consistent and high density manufactured from pure lead conforming to ASTM B-29, B-749 and Federal QQ-L-201F, QQ-L-171E. Sheet Lead is built into a variety of structures, such as walls, doors, window frames and cabinetry to provide the necessary shielding protection. In waterproofing applications the sheet membranes are installed on-site, then burned (welded) with same-composition lead burning bar to affect, a long-lasting, impermeable barrier. With its high “limpness” (low stiffness) and high internal damping capacity it becomes excellent barrier material to block the transmission of sound, and for isolating equipment from mechanical vibration. Since Sheet Lead can easily be shaped with little effort at ambient temperatures without the need for periodic softening or annealing it does not work harden. It therefore can be readily manipulated with standard hand tools without the risk of fracture. As with most other commodities, sheet lead is usually sold by the pound and is available in rolled or sheet form. Many of the more common

If we look at the history of Marketing, we will see an interesting evolution of the leading brand attributes capitalized on by marketing tactics and strategies. After the Second World War, we saw the birth of different products and after some time, man had been able to create a myriad of products for everything a person could possibly ever need and want. That is why, by the 1960s, these brands of products needed to get aggressive.
