Back in 1993 David received his first credit card in the post. The one that is for emergencies only, you know the one its the one you take out and pay for the shopping with each week. David's story is one that many people all over the world will find as familiar and help people avoid bankruptcy.

David's first purchase was a meal for his girlfriend and with his new found freedom with money he could express himself more than normal with a bunch of flowers and a hotel room for the night. "That was the start of a very slippery slope!" David recalls, "As I had done this the one time the next time we went out was just to see a movie. The relationship died because I didn't want to keep using my credit card."

"I was working at the time but my salary was that of a junior and I was very much learning my trade, but that didn't stop me wanting to go out and enjoy myself. I wouldn't think twice about taking a group of friends who were still at College out for a meal and paying for it as I was working." This is the same with a great deal of young people that see their credit card as a way to pay rather than a way to put off paying till the end of the month.

David spent the next few years living a full and eventful life and he remembers "I was away on holiday when I had a call from the credit card company asking if I was able to pay my balance at the end of the month. I laughed and said that I would pay the minimum payment to which they told me that would be around 60% of what I was earning!"

"That ruined the holiday completely I started to think of a way I could get this all paid off." On returning home David found an envelope in his mail offering a balance transfer with 0% for 6 months and an increased credit limit. "I filled it out straight away it was the answer to my prayers!"

With the balance MOVED somewhere else it was no longer a problem as the rate had dropped and he was able to meet the payments each month as well as pay his rent and eat.......well lets just go back a little to the first paragraph, 'the one that you take out and pa for the shopping with each week' Yes David was now using TWO credit cards to get him through his every day life.

After the six months were up David's balance transfer had the interest rate kick in. On top of this David had a new job and was now traveling further into work, now although the new job was more money he was also in need of a reliable car so he got a loan and purchased a reliable car. Now with a loan and two credit cards the new job was going to help get rid of all of these.

How to Create Quality PR Results
For many of us, the word quality is closely related to our expectations. When we receive the public relations results we planned for, we feel, understandably, that we have generated quality results.Another interpretation says quality PR may simply be in the eye of the beholder. But yet another take holds that quality public relations occurs when business, non-profit or association managers use public relations to alter individual perception among their target publics, which leads to changed behaviors, thus helping achieve their managerial

The debt was playing on David's mind all the time and he was more than aware that he was going to have to do something drastic but did not want to let his family down by declaring bankruptcy. "I lost my job because I couldn't concentrate but the credit card companies didn't care they just wanted their payment each month."

"I called them and talked with them begging them for more time to make the payments but they are commission based and don't really care if you can or not. One even suggested I sell my dog, I said I didn't have one to which he replied 'Pimp your girlfriend I don't care just get the payment done!' This was the final straw for me.

I contacted a credit counseling company and asked them what I could do. They sent me details on how I can save money reduce my out goings each month and work out a deal with the credit card companies."

When asked what he would do if he could turn back the clock "Spend what you earn don't spend what other people give you to spend. The looser will be you in the long run. Interest rates are a killer and the feeling of debt is horrible! Don't spend to impress make others pay their own way in the long run it will be you that suffers for a simple act of kindness."

David stuck to the payment plan that the credit counselors put in place for him and they worked out the plan with the credit cards for reduced and in some cases no interest rates. David paid off his debt of $35,000 in 4 years and now works as a CEO for a overseas investment company. A job he got after he paid off his debt working hard and saving every penny.
